DC Srinagar takes stock of Infrastructure upgradation works at YTC Panthachowk

SRINAGAR : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today undertook visit to Yatra Transit Camp (YTC) at Panthachowk to take stock of the pace of works undertaken for facility upgradation during halt of Yatries expected to participate in annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SAJY)-2022.

On the occasion, the DC inspected various works in progress including construction of prefab huts, public convenience facilities under construction, Sanitation, Water Management, installation of Stalls by local SHGs, etc. for the forthcoming annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2022. He reviewed cleanliness and sanitation measures in the premises of the Transit camp.

The DC set a deadline of May 27 for completion of all upgradation works being carried out at the transit camp to facilitate the Yatries during forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2022.

The DC was apprised by the officers of the concerned Departments that works are going in full swing to augment the stay capacity and other facilities for the Yatries including Prefabricated huts, and Public Convenience Units. He was informed that work on 2 Prefabricated huts is near to completion, while work on 4 more prefab huts is being taken up to further augment the stay capacity. The DC directed to complete the remaining 4 huts by end of this month positively.

He asked the R&B Department to take up the works for repairs and black topping of the approach road and premises of the Transit camp Panthachowk.

The DC was further informed that all necessary arrangements with regard to drinking water and electricity facilities have been made in advance at the halt camp. While more than 50 water tanks have been installed in the camp.

The DC directed the PHE authorities to keep provision of an adequate number of water tankers at the camp so that sufficient water supply is ensured.

The authorities of Srinagar Municipal Corporation were directed to ensure proper sanitation and adequate arrangements for public convenience facilities at the transit camp, besides deployment of sufficient staff at the camp for periodical cleanliness in and around the transit camp everyday. He asked them to remove all weeds and unwanted grass from the premises.

Similarly, the officers of NRLM were directed to set up stalls of Self Help Groups (SHGs) regarding Handicraft and Handloom related items at the identified space in the transit camp at the earliest.

The Health authorities were asked to make all arrangements with regard to first aid and other healthcare facilities at the camp, besides arrangements for Covid-19 related mitigation measures.

He also inspected identified Langar sites at the camp and took first hand appraisal of the facilities.

Superintendent Engineer, R&B, Superintendent of Police, West, Chief Planning Officer, Srinagar, Executive Engineers of PHE, R&B, I&FC and PDD, Zonal Medical Officer and other senior officers of Police and Civil Administration accompanied the DC during his visit.
