DC Udhampur hosts interaction meet with participants of ‘Catch the Rain’ contest
Udhampur: Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib today interacted with contestants who participated in ‘Catch the Rain’ contest and shared their innovative ideas regarding water conservation.
The DC stated that it was a wonderful interface and a learning experience during interaction with contestants.
After launching the campaign, the District administration had received an overwhelming public response across the district with 350 entries on catch the rain campaign for increasing the water table and Rain Water Harvesting in the district.
A panel of experts interpreted their ideas on conservation of water before the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur during the interaction.
The DC appreciated their ideas and sought practical utility of the same so that every drop of rain can be saved.
She said that Prime Minister of India gave a clarion call to “Catch the Rain, where it falls, when it falls” under Jal Shakti Abiyaan on World Water Day adding that the District Administration Udhampur has undertook several steps for mass promotion off catch the rain campaign.
Pertinent to mention here that the DC had constituted a panel of ADDC, Ashok Kumar, Chief Planning Officer, Rajeev Bhushan, SE , Jal Shakti Department, PP Arora, DIO NIC, Anil Sharma to scrutinize the 350 entries under catch the rain contest, which selected the best ideas which could be replicated in different areas of the district.
The DC further desired that the MGNREGA plans should be focused on Jal Shakti Abiyaan and sought pooling of resources by stakeholder departments for executing this novel initiative on the ground.
