DDC Anantnag reviews implementation of PMMSY

 

ANANTNAG : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla today reviewed the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in a meeting with concerned officers, here.

The AD Fisheries informed that the aims and objectives of the scheme are to enhance the fish production through expansion, intensification, diversification and productive utilization of land and water besides harvesting potential of the sector in a sustainable, responsible and equitable manner.

He further said that doubling fishers income and fish farming, enhancing contribution to agriculture GVA and exports, social and economic security for fishers and fish farmers are other objectives of the scheme.

Financial assistance is being provided under the scheme for construction of trout raceways, establishment of trout fish hatcheries, mini feed mills, providing boats (replacement) and nets for traditional fisherman, housing for fishers and insurance to fishers, added the AD.

The DDC directed the concerned officers to identify the beneficiaries and expedite the process of selection. Fisheries sector has an important role in generating meaningful and sustainable employment, he remarked.
