DDC Chairperson Ganderbal inaugurates 4-day long Fun Fair Mela at Qamaria Park
GANDERBAL : The District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq along with Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shyambir Singh today inaugurated a 4-day long Fun Fair Mela at Qamaria Park, here.
Chairman Municipal Council Ganderbal, Hilal Ahmad Tantray and Additional District Development Council Ganderbal were also present on the occasion.
Kick-starting the fair, the DDC Chairperson said this event is being organized in connection with the Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Qamar-ud-Din Bukhari which is being celebrated after 33 years.
This mela would continue till September 10, she said, while congratulating organizers for holding the event in the Ganderbal as it would enable people to connect with the rich cultural legacy of Kashmir.
Notably, the fair showcased a wide range of pottery, soft toys, Exciting Magical Games, Swings and a number of stalls for children and other items besides special attractions in the Mela are daylong Music programme, Gymnastic show, range of Fresh Food stalls etc.
Meanwhile, Nuzhat along with other dignitaries went around the stalls put up in the Mela and showed keen interest in the exhibited goods. She interacted with the stall holders and appreciated the quality of products put on display.
She visited each counter and said on the one hand, such fairs give a glimpse of the expertise of handicrafts and on the other it displays the rich culture of the country. She interacted with the traders who have come from different parts of the country besides others who have set up several stalls displaying a wide range of products.
Nuzhat called upon people of Kashmir especially Ganderbal to participate in the Urs mubarak of Hazrat Qamar-ud-Din Bukhari at Reshipora Saloora and also visit this fun fair mela in large numbers so as to revive the different cultures of country and show great enthusiasm in purchasing goods on sale, eating food of various kinds which is being served at the Mela.
Different departments have also been directed to install stalls showcasing a variety of products and technologies developed in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Agroforestry, Agri-Engineering, and other related fields and also displaying and highlighting various welfare schemes and programs, besides the various departments have been directed to present scintillating cultural items on the occasion.
