DDC Chairperson Ganderbal inaugurates Health Mela in Gund

GANDERBAL : To sensitize people about the importance of health and wellbeing and to bring varied health facilities at the door steps of the public, a Block Health cum Awareness Mela was organized today at Government Higher Secondary School Gund, here.
The event was inaugurated by DDC Chairperson Ganderbal, Nuzhat Ishfaq in presence of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, Khurshid Ahmad Shah and CMO Ganderbal, Dr. Afroza Shah.
DDC Member Gund, BDC Gund, SDM Kangan, ACD besides Sarpanches, Panches and other district officers were present on the occasion.
The Mela witnessed overwhelming participation of locals who availed the facility of free medical OPD diagnosis, tests and free medicine. Senior doctors, paramedics and technicians conducted health checkups of hundreds of patients.
The DDC chairperson along with ADDC and CMO inspected all stalls set up by the departments and enquired about the facilities and IEC material available for the general public.
Nuzhat Ishfaq while speaking on the occasion said that these health Melas are being organized in each medical block of the district to boost the healthcare system and enlighten people about government schemes.
The ADDC appealed to people to register for Golden cards, avail service of Jan Aushadhi and other health schemes for their better health care and safety. He said that the efforts are on to ensure benefits of health related schemes reach to every household.
Speaking on the occasion, the CMO said that the aim of holding the health melas was to educate people about various government health schemes and provide them with the best healthcare facilities at their doorsteps.
Meanwhile, a public outreach program as a part of weekly Block Diwas was also held at the same venue during which PRIs and people apprised the DDC Chairperson about various issues and grievances related to augmentation of water supply and electricity, macadamization of roads, dearth of staff in Higher Sec. School and hospital and other demands of public importance and sought her intervention for early resolution of the same.
The DDC chairperson gave a patient hearing to the issues and assured the locals for early resolution of the genuine issues. She also gave necessary instruction to the officers for ensuring early redressal of the issues raised as per their competence.
ADDC while speaking on the occasion said that the purpose of holding a public outreach programme is to have firsthand appraisal of the issues and to ensure early redressal of the same. He assured the locals that the issues raised would be redressed in a time bound manner.
