DDC convenes DSDC to discuss formulation of DSDP at Ganderbal
Jammu: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today chaired a meeting of District Skill Development Committee (DSDC) to discuss formulation of the District Skill Development Plan (DSDP).
The meeting deliberated on various aspects regarding district specific skill requirements, viability of available schemes besides scope of skill development pertaining to various departments.
The DDC urged upon all the stakeholders to assess demands and requirements of specific skills in the local market and rationalize available resources accordingly.
While addressing the meeting, the DDC called upon all the stakeholders to put in concerted efforts to create an enabling environment in the district to overcome the challenges and exploit potential to the optimum level for overall skill development of the youth so that avenues of employment are augmented within the district.
The DDC sought suggestions from all the Committee members on introducing new Skill development crash courses in the Polytechnic college Hatbura and ITIs which are locally demanded.
He asked the Principals of these colleges to review feasibility and credibility on introducing new courses that are market oriented like GIS mapping, Biomedical Instrument Technician, Photography, Adventure Tourism, Hospitality and Protocol etc.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmed Baba, General Manager, DIC Ganderbal, CMO, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry, Principals of Government Polytechnic college Hatbura, ITI Kangan and Ganderbal, Assistant Directors of Handloom, Handicrafts, Employment, District Nodal Officer J&KEDI, representatives of Mission Director J&K Skill Development Mission and other concerned.
