DDC Council Anantnag reviews CAPEX budget works of Education department

Ensure rationalisation of teacher student ratio: DDC Chairman

 

ANANTNAG : The Chairman, DDC Anantnag, Chowdary M. Yousuf Gorsi today reviewed the functioning of the Education department in Anantnag at Dak Bungalow, here.

The Chairman was apprised about the works taken up under different heads for modernization of school and augmentation of capacities so that best quality education can be imparted to the students.

Reviewing the status of the works, CEO Anantnag informed the Council about the infrastructure of educational institutions besides the data related to number of schools, teaching staff, enrolled students and rationalisation of teacher – student ratio.

The council was also apprised of the availability of teaching staff, enrolment of dropouts under Talaash, capacity of building and present enrollment, facilities for specially abled children etc. Various works under execution including buildings, boundary walls, laboratories, approach paths and playfields were discussed during the meeting.

The members of the council appreciated the work done by the department in bringing education in government schools at par with private schools and the efforts under Back to Mission by teachers.

The Council members directed the CEO to ensure that school building under execution must be completed on priority. They said that labs and libraries must be functional in institutes so that students can benefit from these facilities.

Further, schools housed in rented accommodations must be shifted to government buildings. They directed the CEO to ensure that any schools in vicinity of water bodies should have boundary walls and other public access facilities including access roads, toilets, etc must be operationalized, if deficient anywhere. They appreciated the department for rationalizing the student teacher ratio across the district and directed them to make further improvements in this regard.

The DDC members assured the ZEOs that issues pertaining to removal of encroachments near school premises and allocation of land for augmenting the infrastructure are being discussed on priority and shall be resolved.

The Council also deliberated on matters pertaining to extra-curricular activities and directed the CEO to ensure that inter school tournaments across various sports are organized on a regular basis. They also reviewed the availability of playfields in the educational institutions and emphasized that sports kits and other equipment shall be available in all institutes.

DYSSO, present during the meeting, assured that while many such tournaments are being organized regularly, students will be encouraged to participate more frequently and demonstrate their talent.

The meeting was attended by DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, CEO, ACP, DYSSO, ZEOs, besides various officials of the education department.
