DDC flags off first batch of MAITRIs to rural areas
Kucchal: District Development Commissioner Angrez Singh Rana today flagged off the first Batch of 03 MAITRIs to the rural areas of Kucchal, Tatanai and Kewa Panchyats of the district.
MAITRI (Multipurpose Artificial Insemination Technician for Rural India) is a component of Nationwide Artificial Insemination Program (NAIP) under Rashtriya Gokul Mission. MAITRIs are trained technicians who received three months training at Artificial Insemination Training Institute, Bathinda (Punjab).
While speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that introduction of MAITRI shall boost the cross breeding program and will get native breeds to produce more milk, more fertile and to raise the quality of Indian cows and bulls to eventually outdo Jerseys and Holsteins and will be a strong stepping stone towards doubling farmers income by 2022.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Sanjay Kumar Sen along with Technical Officer to CAHO Dr Rajan Sharma were also present during the occasion.
