DDC Kishtwar reviews implementation of BBBP scheme

Kishtwar : District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma, today reviewed the implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) here at a meeting of the District Level Task Force Committee.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pawan Parihar, Joint Director Planning Mohammad Iqbal; Assistant Commissioner Development Kishore Singh Katoch; Chief Education Officer, Ashok Kumar, Nodal Officer BBBP Anoop Kumar; DSWO Tariq Parvez Qazi; Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Dr Parveez Iqbal Wani; NSS Coordinator GDC Kishtwar Faisal Mustaq Kichloo; Officers from Mahila Shakti Kendra besides Principals of various colleges and other educational institutions attended the meeting.

The DDC asked Chief Education Officer and Programme Officer ICDS to conduct a Zone wise survey to identify school dropout girls and low literacy rate pockets through ZRPs and Angannwadi workers.“Once the low literacy pockets are identified these shall be targeted in mission mode manner so that the gap between male and female literacy rate is lowered” he said.

ARTO was directed to identify the girls for free driving courses in the district Kishtwar.

Felicitations of meritorious girl Child, felicitation of Best ASHA worker achieving 100% institutional deliveries and reporting any illegal sex selection practices, distribution of baby kits to mothers of newly born girl child, distribution of IEC material, installation of sanitary napkins vending machines, organising special sports events for girl students etc. were discussed and necessary instructions were passed to the concerned officers.

Further, all District Officers were directed to ensure the use of BBBP logo on all official letters, integration of the departmental awareness with BBBP awareness and sensitisation of staff about BBBP.

District Coordinator NSS was directed to ensure that female NSS Volunteers participate in the awareness events including celebrations of Road safety week.

Assistant Commissioner Development Kishtwar was directed to organise special women gram sabhas on the occasion of International Women Day.

The Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar was asked to ensure the enforcement of PC&PNDT and MTP Act in letter and spirit. In this regard, he was asked to conduct decoy operations along with police and award the whistle blowers.

The DDC urged for the formation of district inspection and monitoring committee for conducting frequent inspections at the Ultra sound centres and clinics in the district.

He also asked Medical Superintendent DH Kishtwar to rope in the PRI members and the ASHA workers in clutching the menace of sex determination.

The EO Municipal Council Kishtwar was directed to explore the possibility of installation of LCDs in the city to showcase various messages of BBBP and other women centric schemes.
