DDC Kupwara finalizes arrangements for Water Week celebration
Kupwara: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of concerned officers to discuss and finalize the activities for celebration of National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Week (NRDWSW).
The meeting discussed threadbare week long activities being carried out from March 16 and culminating on March 22 (Water Day).
It was given out in the meeting that the activities for NRDWSW shall be held at different places across the district during which block, panchayat and village level programmes shall be conducted to make people aware about the judicious use of water resources.
It was further informed that during the week-long programme Gram Sabha meetings, public rallies, review of rural water supply, public announcements and cultural programmes shall be held, besides, water quality monitoring tests on random basis.
Addressing the meeting, the DDC asked the concerned engineers of Jal Shakti department to ensure proper arrangements during the ensuing NRDWS Week as per the Action Plan.
He asked them to specify the area of activities and directed them to nominate 02 blocks each in Handwara and Kupwara and one block in Tangdar sub division. He also directed them to ensure 100 water quality tests in the district during the week long programme.
Earlier, the DDC was briefed about the weeklong activities which include flag off of audio-visual vehicle from District Headquarter, District Jal Jeevan Mission meeting, Gram Sabha meetings and public rallies at block and village level.
Among others, ADC Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone, JD Planning, Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti Department and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
