Kupwara: The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Imam Din today launched the first programme of National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Week (NRDWSW) by flagging off the IEC van here.
On the occasion, the DDC said that the objective of celebrating Water Week is aimed at spreading awareness among the people for judicious use of water, preservation of water resources and water bodies.
He said the weeklong programme has already been finalized to generate mass awareness with regard to World Water Week which will culminate on March 22, the World Water Day.
On the occasion, the DDC was informed that during the weeklong programme, the Jal Shakti department will conduct District Jal Jeevan Mission meetings; Gram Sabha meetings, review of rural water supply; public announcements and cultural programmes, besides, water quality monitoring/testing and public rallies at block and village level.
Among others, ADDC, concerned Executive Engineers and officers were present on the occasion.
