DDC Kupwara reviews implementation of Mining Plan
Kupwara: The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of District Level Task Force Committee (DLTFC) to review the Mining Plan of Kupwara district.
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues regarding extraction of minor minerals including sand, bajri and boulders from various Nallahs of the district.
The members of the Committee apprised the DDC about the ill effects of extraction of minor minerals from Nallahs with special focus on maintaining ecological and environmental balance, besides, irrigation facilities and prevention of floods.
The DDC directed the members of the Committee to ensure mass awareness among all the stakeholders including the general public regarding the guidelines of the Mining plan and ill effects of illegal extraction from Nallahs. He said while implementing the guidelines of National Green Tribunal (NGT), it should be taken care that people do not suffer unnecessarily.
The DDC urged the members to work with coordination for better results on the ground, adding that coordination between Police and Civil Administration is very instrumental in yielding success.
Earlier, DMO Kupwara briefed the Chair about the measures taken by the department in curbing illegal extraction at Nallah Mawar and other areas.
Among others, ADDC Kupwara, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ASP Handwara, DSP Kupwara, DMO, Executive Engineer I&FC and others attended the meeting.
