DDC Kupwara reviews progress of Self Employment Schemes

Kupwara: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ansul Garg today convened a meeting of concerned officers and bankers to review the progress achieved under various self employment schemes in the district.
The meeting was informed that over Rs.10, 286 lakhs as loan have been disbursed among 3707 educated unemployed youth by various financial institutions for establishment of self income generating units in the district during the year 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21 under different schemes including MSME, PMEGP, KVIB, JKREGP, KVIC, EDI, NRLM, DEDS and Sheep Units.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the line departments and bankers to work in tandem and coordination and ensure that the targets fixed already are achieved well in time.
The DDC took strong note of pendency in some institutions and asked them to improve their performance for which he gave a timeline for achievement of targets.
He asked the Lead District Manager to convene a meeting of concerned officers tomorrow in his office and report for further course of action.
The DDC also asked concerned officers to submit the progress regarding sanction and disbursement of cases on a daily basis.
He said that self employment is the basic element under which the primary sector of the economy viz agriculture and allied sectors could get a boost.
The DDC called upon the educated unemployed youth of the district to take advantage of the schemes meant for self employment.
Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, Joint Director Planning, Abdul Majeed, Lead District Manager, Shamim Ahmad, District Information officer and others concerned were present at the occasion.
