DDC Poonch flags off farmers’ Exposure Tour
POONCH : District Development Commissioner Poonch Inder Jeet today flagged off a group of 40 Farmers of the District for their participation in Krishak Mela at SKUAST Jammu and Promotion of NANO Urea by IFFCO at Convention Center Jammu.
The Krishak Mela is being organized by SKUAST Jammu in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Jammu.
Chief Agriculture officer, Rakesh Sharma, informed that the group of farmers of the district are participating in both the events wherein they would interact with the progressive farmers of other Districts, have an exposure to the latest technological interventions in Agriculture sector and Farm Mechanization etc.
Beside this, the farmers shall be given firsthand knowledge regarding introduction of NANO Urea application and provided demonstration Kits free of cost.
The District Development Commissioner exhorted the participating farmers to avail the benefits of this opportunity and get updated with the latest innovations in integrated farming system comprising Crop production, Protective exotic vegetable cultivation, Mushroom growing etc.
He emphasized that such exposure visits would prove fruitful for development of the Agriculture sector and doubling the farmers’ income in Poonch District especially with the introduction and application of NANO UREA. He also impressed upon them to make efforts to preserve the germ plasm of local specialties of the district viz Red rice (Ranja), local Rajmash (Mandi Loran Mothi),Local Garlic and Red Potato( Loran-Galipindi Potato).
The District Agriculture Officer (Ext.)Poonch & all other officers of the department also attended the programme.
