DDC Rajouri reviews functioning of Wildlife Department

 

RAJOURI : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today reviewed the functioning and performance of the wildlife department here at a meeting of the concerned officers held in his office chamber.

Officers who attended the meeting included CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; Wildlife warden, Mushtaq Chowdhury and DSCO, Rashid Manhas.

At the outset, the meeting was informed that Rajouri has one wildlife reserve in Shashera spread over an area of 1.43 Sq.Km where different species of animals like barking deer, jungle fowl, wild boar and leopard are found.

The DC took stock of the nature of works being executed by the department. The concerned officer apprised that water conservation, soil conservation and fencing works are being executed in the district.

Seeking the progress made under soil conservation works, it was apprised that against the target of constructing nine NGT ponds, 8 have been completed.

The DDC asked the concerned officers to take effective measures to create better means of protection and conservation for the specified species.

He also asked the concerned officers to ensure that the works are completed at the earliest and directed to maintain quality while executing the work on the projects.
