DDC Rajouri takes comprehensive review of Jal Shakti schemes

Asks for regular monitoring of projects, judicious use of available funds

 

RAJOURI : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today took a comprehensive review of ongoing water supply schemes and functioning of the Jal Shakti Department.

Officers present in the meeting included CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Hydraulics, JP Singh; ExEn Jal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed; ExEn Jal Shakti Nowshera, Bashir Ahmed besides other concerned officers.

Threadbare discussion about various important schemes being implemented in the district for the augmentation of the water supply was held in the meeting.

The DDC reviewed the physical and financial progress of the works being executed under JJM, District and state Capex, BADP, NRDWP, languishing scheme, DDC, BDC and PRI Grants in the district and achievements made so far.

The meeting was informed that as many as 293 schemes at an estimated cost of Rs 1550.52 crore have been approved for providing functional tap water connection to every household across 380 villages.

Taking stock of the progress concerning the ongoing IEC activities in the district under JJM, the DDC was briefed about the activities being organised to sensitise the public about different aspects of the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The DC highlighted the role and responsibilities of the Gram Sabhas for the successful implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the district. He said that Jal Jeevan Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water to every household through tap connections in a time-bound manner. He directed the department to make collaborative efforts for the successful conduct of the awareness campaign in the district. He also asked to actively involve PRIs in the awareness campaign.

While reviewing the progress on other important schemes, the DC directed the concerned officers to expedite the pace of work to ensure that the projects are completed well in time to provide necessary benefits to the general public. He also stressed on timely utilisation of the funds sanctioned for developmental works and ensuring regular inspection.

Taking note of water scarcity in several villages, the DC directed the officials of the Jal Shakti Department to take immediate measures and address the problem immediately.
