DDC Ramban launches “SPARSH” Leprosy awareness campaign
Ramban: District Development Commissioner, Mussarat Islam today launched ‘SPARSH’, a Leprosy Awareness Campaign besides flagged off a publicity vehicle here from District Hospital for sensitizing the people of the district about the treatment and precautions.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr, Mohammad Fareed Bhat, Dy. CMO, Dr. Iqbal Bhat, Medical Superintend, District Hospital, Abdul Hamid, Doctors and other officers and officials were present on the occasion.
After inaugurating the campaign, the DDC said that the campaign is aimed at to eliminate the stigma associated with the disease, intensify awareness about the treatment and precautions and also identify new cases so as to provide them early treatment.
Meanwhile, the CMO informed that the campaign will remain in operation till February 13, 2021. He said that awareness vehicle will visit different parts of the district to make masses aware about the leprosy and help the affected persons in getting the treatment. “The leprosy is fully curable if detected early”, the CMO, added.
He urged the health workers to involve volunteers to make the awareness programme successful besides urging the people to cooperate in this leprosy eradication awareness campaign.
