DDC reviews progress on Devika project at Udhampur

Udhampur: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla, today chaired a meeting of officers and contractors of executing agencies to review progress on prestigious Devika project.
Threadbare discussion was held on various issues like blacktopping, restoration of excavated stretches, laying of sewerage pipes, development of Devika Ghats, design vetting of STPs, restoration of public utilities in the town etc.
While reviewing the work wise progress on the project, DDC directed the executing agencies to gear up the progress to fill the gap created due to COVID-19 crisis. He directed for addition to the men and machinery for expeditious completion of the project besides asking the executing agencies to ensure that engineers are stationed at the site and update the progress on daily basis.
DDC asked the executing agency to make advance plan for execution of works instead of random execution and inform the concerned councillors before the commencement of work. He also asked the Superintendent Engineer to use only the material which is vetted by the technical committee to ensure that standard material is used. He directed for permanent restoration of roads where pipes are laid down besides asking the executing agencies to clear the dumping sites so that the general public do not suffer on this account.
DDC stressed on inter departmental coordination to execute their respective plans so that there is minimum inconvenience to the public. He directed the Executive Engineer R&B to make Venus Chowk stretch functional for the traffic besides submitting the design for the Omara rotary. He asked the executive Engineer PHE to check illegal water connections used for commercial purposes.
Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner, President MC Udhampur, SE R&B, SE UEED, ACR, DIO, Executive Engineers PHE and PWD besides contractors were present in the meeting.
