DDC reviews progress on Jal Jeevan Mission scheme at Udhampur
Udhampur: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla today reviewed the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in the District, here at a meeting of officers of concerned departments.
The meeting was attended by SE, PHE Hydraulic Circle Udhampur, Kuldip Badyal; Assistant Commissioner Development, Mushtaq Choudhary; District Information Officer, Er. Sajad Bashir Somberia; Executive Engineer, PHE Division Udhampur, Taj Chowdhary, besides AEEs and JEs.
The SE Hydraulic gave a detailed presentation about the progress and role of different department for effective implementation of the scheme in the district.
Taking the Sub Division wise review of progress, the DDC said that the Jal Jeevan Mission is centrally sponsored scheme launched by the government of India with the objective to provide tap water to all households across the country. ACD was asked to sensitize the BDOs and field functionaries of RDD to coordinate with PHE Department to organize Gram Sabhas for making DPRs under JJM.
The DDC asked the officers to encourage the general public to come forward and cooperate with PHE Department in better usage of natural resources. He asked the PHE Department to gear up men and machinery in coordination with other departments and submit all DPRs in a given timeframe.
Meanwhile, for showing poor performance in making DPRs, a JE was attached.
The DDC exhorted upon the department to involve PRIs in planning of Jal Jeevan Mission and sensitization of public about it.
