DDC Shopian inspects MSK, OSC, ATF

Shopian: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today inspected Mahila Shakti Kendra (District Resource Centre for Women), One Stop Centre (OSC) for Women and Alternate Treatment Facility (ATF) and reviewed the work done so far in these institutions.

While reviewing the progress of Mahila Shakti Kendra, the DDC emphasised upon officials to gear up their outreach activities and carry out an intense awareness campaign about women centric schemes across the length and breadth of the district.

Officials were asked to reach out to women entrepreneurs who are having at least 33 percent ownership in any enterprise and motivate them to avail benefits entailed under newly launched Housla Scheme.

The DDC was apprised that MSK has recently organised camps at Babapora and Killora where apart from raising awareness about women centric schemes, rural women were called upon to get themselves vaccinated against COVID-19 and play their role in containing its spread by adhering to awareness.

It was revealed that 21 registrations have been made under Housla Scheme and as many as 16 girls from the tribal population are referred to RSETI for training and credit linkage. It was also given out that MSK is actively involved in referring domestic violence cases to OSC & identification of beneficiaries for pension and self-employment schemes.

The DDC was also briefed about overall functioning of One Stop Centre Shopian where women facing domestic violence are provided free medico-legal assistance, counselling and 10 days shelter to abandoned females. A total of 14 cases of domestic violence have been instituted in OSC. Issues pertaining to recruitment of staff and interdepartmental coordination were discussed.

The DDC impressed upon officials to strengthen the mechanism for timely reporting of domestic violence cases, maintaining a proper database of all such cases and educating the public about the role of OSC through various social media platforms and awareness camps. He stressed upon the need for regular follow up in each case for proper rehabilitation of such females.

Progress for establishment of Alternate Treatment Facility/Drug De-addiction Centre at DH Shopian was also reviewed and concerned were directed to expedite arrangement of staff and other infrastructure required for making it fully functional at earliest.

Pertinently outpatient & tele-consultation facility is available at DH Shopian where proper counselling is provided to drug addicts.
