DDC visits Kokernag, chairs Public Parbar; Listens to scores of delegations, pledges for holistic development of the area

Anantnag: The District Development Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla today made an extensive tour of Kokernag area.

On the occasion, he listened to scores of PRI members and public delegations during the Public Darbar held at Community Hall Wandewalgam which witnessed participation of a large number of local people.

Apart from issues related to basic services, the public representatives demanded holding of Tourism Festival and tapping of tourism potential of the area besides developing requisite infrastructure for the same.

They also demanded a full fledged Tehsil Social Welfare Office for Breng and Bank ATM at Zalangam.

Dr. Singla listened to their grievances and issues patiently and issued on spot directions for redressal of genuine grievances. He also assured them to project the demands of Tourism Festival and TSW Office before higher authorities.

The DDC directed the concerned officials to ensure saturation of beneficiary oriented schemes like social security pensions, Sehat/ Golden cards, PMAY etc.

He also pledged to empower and strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institution as envisaged in the PR Act.

The darbar was attended by BDC Chairperson Breng, ADC (G), CEO KDA, SDM Kokernag and other concerned district and sectoral officers.

Later, the DDC along with ADC, CEO KDA and other officers visited many areas of the Subdivision where he took first hand appraisal of the public grievances and issues and assured their resolution in a time bound manner.

On spot inspection of various developmental and public welfare projects related with tourism, education, fisheries, waste management and agriculture was also taken.

He inspected the Botanical Garden, Tourism Facilitation Centre, Solid Waste Management Plant, Trout Hatchery and Hill Park Kokernag and briefly reviewed their functioning.

Dr. Singla also visited GDC Kokernag and took stock of the ongoing construction work there besides enquiring about the functioning of the computer laboratory, library and other facilities there.

At GHSS Sagam, the DDC interacted with members of Muskhbudji FPO and farmers associated with the cultivation of this famous aromatic rice variety.

He assured full support for publicity and marketing of their produce and advised them to use e-Commerce platforms for increasing the demand manifold besides targeting the potential customers across the country.
