Deep Tech Construction Startup Tvasta launches Kerala’s First Concrete 3D Printer Lab

Located at Saintgits College of Engineering in Kottayam, this facility will boost R&D and Innovation and aid industry professionals in exploring and developing new methodologies in 3D printed construction

 

CHENNAI  : Deep Tech Startup Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, which specializes in Construction 3D Printing, has launched Kerala’s first Concrete 3D Printer Lab to boost Research and Innovation

The facility was set up in collaboration with Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam, and was inaugurated on Tuesday (25th June 2024) in the presence of representatives from Tvasta, faculty, staff and students

This newly-established lab is designed to serve as a research and development hub, focusing on innovative concrete 3D printing techniques. This initiative is poised to foster advancements in the construction industry by leveraging the cutting-edge technology developed by Tvasta, a pioneering deep-tech startup known for its expertise in Construction 3D Printing.

Founded in 2016 by IIT Madras Alumni, Tvasta developed a ‘Made in India’ technology focusing on leveraging Automation and Robotics in 3D Printing Platforms for faster, economical and sustainable construction methods compared to conventional technologies. The start-up is currently based out of Chennai and Bengaluru.

Addressing the audience at the inauguration, Mr. Adithya VS, Chief Executive Officer, Tvasta Manufacturing Solutions, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Saintgits College of Engineering to launch Kerala’s first Concrete 3D Printer Lab dedicated to research and development. This lab will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of construction technology and promoting sustainable and rapid construction practices in India.”

The Concrete 3D Printer Lab at Saintgits College of Engineering will serve as a platform for students, researchers, and industry professionals to explore and develop new methodologies in 3D printed construction. The lab will utilize Tvasta’s indigenously-developed ‘NIRMAAN RD11’ 3D Printer, capable of printing up to one cubic meter volume, to create a variety of concrete structures and carry out material research.

The lab inauguration was graced by several dignitaries and stakeholders, including key representatives from Saintgits College of Engineering: Dr. Sudha T, Principal; Dr. M D Mathew, Dean of Research; Shri. Thomas T. John, Director of Saintgits Group of Institutions; Dr. Nivin Philip, Professor and Research Centre in charge; Dr. Reebu Zachariah Koshy, Associate Director; Dr. Naveen Punnoose, Chief Digital Officer; Dr. Soosan George T, Dean of Academics; and Dr. Susan Rose, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering. Also in attendance was Mr. Sanu Xavier, CTO of MG University Innovation Foundation, MGU, Kottayam.

The Concrete 3D Printer Lab at Saintgits is set to become a center of excellence, promoting research and development in the field of construction technology and contributing to the advancement of the construction industry in India.
