On May 7, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Shun Xiangyang and President Ye Yuru visited our school. Tan Tieniu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University, met with guests at the Gulou Campus. The two sides held discussions and exchanges on further deepening exchanges and cooperation.

Nanjing University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have strong complementarity, large space for cooperation, and deep network foundation. In his speech, Shen Xiangyang expressed his deep feelings for his hometown of Nanjing, and introduced his fate with Nanjing University when he was young, saying that he was “very familiar and affectionate” to Nanjing University’s Gulou Campus. He pointed out that Nanjing University will achieve great results in its future development, and expressed great pleasure at the in-depth cooperation between the two universities. He looked forward to both parties leveraging their complementary strengths in disciplines, joining forces, and working together to advance together.

Ye Yuru pointed out that Nanjing University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology have close ties. The two parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement last year. During Secretary Tan’s visit to Hong Kong in January this year, they further discussed and implemented the cooperation plan. She pointed out that artificial intelligence is a key development area of ​​the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. NTU is the first university in the country to offer an “artificial intelligence general core course system” and hopes that the two universities will further deepen cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence. At the same time, she looks forward to in-depth cooperation between the two parties in the fields of medicine, innovation and entrepreneurship, promoting scientific research and innovation, and cultivating more doctors and mass entrepreneurship and innovation talents facing future needs.

Zheng Hairong introduced in detail the “three-three system” innovative talent training model for Nanjing University undergraduates. He said that innovation and entrepreneurship are an important training direction for mainland students. He hoped that through this discussion, the two universities would further promote student exchanges and exchanges, promote mutual recognition of credits and mutual selection of courses, jointly cultivate interdisciplinary talents, and improve the quality of education.

At the meeting, Zheng Guangting introduced the talent training work of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and various student exchange projects. Lu Yanqing introduced various college student innovation and entrepreneurship competitions hosted and participated by Nanjing University. Ding Aijun introduced the basic situation of Nanhe College’s talent training system and enrollment work. The two parties participating in the meeting conducted in-depth exchanges around the fields of artificial intelligence, scientific research and innovation, medicine, new engineering, innovation and entrepreneurship, talent training, etc., jointly discussed the prospects for multi-faceted cooperation, and reached a number of consensuses.
