Delhi govt directs private hospitals with 50 beds to reserve 20 pct for COVID-19 patients

New Delhi: Delhi government has directed private hospitals and nursing homes with a capacity of 50 beds or more to reserve 20 per cent of their total bed strength for COVID-19 patients.

In a tweet, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said, the Delhi government felt an imperative need to increase the number of beds, dedicated to COVID19 patients. He said, 117 private hospitals and nursing homes have been directed to reserve 20 per cent of their total bed strength for COVID19 patients.

An order issued by the Delhi government said, it has been found that in the recent past, the majority of beds earmarked for COVID-19 patients in the dedicated private hospitals are occupied at any given time. Therefore, there is a need to increase the number of beds dedicated for COVID-19 patients in the private hospitals in the city.
