Dental Screening and Treatment Camp for Visually Challenged Students

Aligarh : The Department of Periodontia and Community Dentistry at Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), conducted a commendable dental screening and treatment camp on April 29, catering to the needs of visually challenged students from the Ahmadi School of Visually Challenged. Led by Prof. R. K. Tiwari, Principal of the Dental College, and Dr. Naila Rashid, Principal of Ahmadi School, the camp screened a total of 68 individuals under the supervision of Chairperson Prof. Neha Agrawal, along with Dr. Pramod K. Yadav and Dr. Syed Amaan Ali.

The camp prioritised addressing the dental health needs of visually challenged students, efficiently referring diagnosed cases to the Public Health Dentistry OPD at Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College for further treatment. Prof. Agrawal reiterated the college’s commitment to providing equitable access to dental care for all members of the community.

Dr. Shazia (a PG student), other interns, and dental hygienists, ensured the smooth execution of screening and treatment procedures. This initiative highlights the importance of accessible healthcare and collaborative efforts between academia and the healthcare sector to addressing the specific needs of marginalised communities.

The Department of Periodontia and Community Dentistry at ZADC sets a commendable example for prioritising inclusive dental care.
