Department of Business Administration celebrates World Heart Day
Aligarh : The Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), celebrated the 25th World Heart Day at the Conference Hall of the Residential Coaching Academy, AMU.
Welcoming the guests and attendees of the event, Dr. Asif Ali Syed, Associate Professor, Department of Business Administration underscored the importance of observing World Heart Day.
The resource person Prof Asif Hasan, Chairman, Department of Cardiology focused on cardiovascular issues impacting the younger populations worldwide, with particular attention to low-income countries, especially in South-East Asia. He attributed the high prevalence of heart-related issues amongst young people of these regions to factors such as lack of sleep and poor dietary and lifestyle habits. His address culminated in an engaging Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to pose questions on various aspects of cardiac health.
The second resource person, Dr Akash Priyadarshi, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine drew a parallel between ‘Hypertension and Diabetes’, discussing the deadly combination of both on the deterioration of heart’s health. He elaborated on their causes, symptoms, risk factors, and dispelled common myths.
Dr Priyadarshi emphasized the significance of maintaining a healthy Body Mass Index (BMI) and the importance of regularly monitoring blood pressure and glucose levels to assess an individual’s risk of developing heart disease. He also outlined preventive measures to reduce the likelihood of these conditions.
The workshop saw active participation of over 120 students from MBA, mainly those specialising in Hospital Administration.
The MBA students and research scholars made up for various volunteering committees for smooth operation of the event.
Prof Salma Ahmed, Chairperson of the Department coordinated the event.
Rushda Kalim, research scholar proposed a vote of thanks; while Tooba Bilgrami, research scholar conducted the inaugural ceremony.
