Department of Geography gets new Chairman

ALIGARH : Prof Nizamuddin Khan, Department of geography, Aligarh Muslim University has been appointed Chairman of the concerned department for a period from June 1, 2024 to November 7, 2024, the date of his superannuation.

Prof Khan has been engaged in teaching and research for over the last 30 years and areas of his research interests include agricultural marketing, rural marketing and livestock husbandry, marketing geography, political geography and physical geography.

He has published about 16 books and more than 120 research papers in the journals of national and international repute, which include Asian Profile (Canada), FOCUS (Association of American Geographer, USA), Philippines Geographical Journal (Philippines), Journal for Geography (Slovenia), African Journal of Livestock Extension and Journal of Economics and Sustainable Development (USA), The Geographer, Geographical Review of India, Indian Journal of Regional Science, Indian National Geographer, Earth Surface Review, etc.

He has completed five major research projects sponsored by ICAR, ICSSR, UGC and UPCST. He is the recipient of International Geographical Union Scholarship twice, Best Paper Award in ACSSR 2010, Penang, Malaysia, in Istanbul, Turkey (2018) and in Greensboro, U.S.A. (2019).

He has also received the Bhoogol Shastra Bhusan (2019) award by DGSI, Lifetime Achievement Award (2020), and Outstanding Scientist Award (2021) by VD Good Professional Association of India, Trichy and Pondicherry.
