Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University clinches top rank
Aligarh: The Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has clinched the top rank among various mathematics departments in Indian universities and secured 175th position globally in the recently released ‘US News and World Report Rankings 2020’.
AMU is squarely placed as a foremost university of national importance on the fourth rank among Indian universities in the ‘US News and World Report’. The ranking has come at a time when the university is observing its centenary year.
Stating the first rank obtained by the Department of Mathematics as a proud moment, the AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor said, these rakings revealed that AMU is one of the most prestigious universities with very high entry standards of teaching and learning.
“AMU attracts students from all over the country and the world,” added the Vice Chancellor.
He congratulated the faculty members and students for their unrelenting efforts to take the Department of Mathematics to the zenith of success.
Prof Mohammad Ashraf (Chairman, Department of Mathematics) said that the AMU mathematics department has a very strong and active group of researchers working in the core area of pure and applied mathematics.
The Department of Mathematics has been ranked first in India with a subject score of 47.8 and global score of 41.5. The ‘US News and World Report’ Rankings are an indicator and aid to strategic management of institutions all over the world. It is through these rankings that students all over the world make their study and career choices.
