Dept. of Physics to Host ALICE STAR India Collaboration Meeting and International Workshop on QGP Physics on Nov. 25

Aligarh : Department of Physics at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will host the ALICE STAR India Collaboration Meeting and International Workshop on Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) Physics starting Monday, November 25. This significant event will attract leading experts from the ALICE project, both from India and abroad, to discuss the latest advancements in QGP research.

The workshop will see over 70 participants, including 50 research scholars, engage in discussions about recent ALICE experiments conducted at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. AMU’s Physics Department, a key collaborator in the ALICE project, works closely with the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) to enhance understanding of quark-gluon plasma and heavy ion collision physics. The project is supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Principal Investigator of the ALICE-AMU Collaboration, expressed, “This workshop will showcase AMU’s contributions to the ALICE project. It’s a chance for collaboration and a boost for our students’ and faculty’s research skills.”

Prof. Anisul Ain Usmani, Chairman of the Department of Physics, stated, “Our department has a distinguished history of excellence in nuclear and particle physics research. Our involvement in the ALICE project promotes this legacy, and we are grateful for the opportunity to host this international workshop.”

The workshop, to be inaugurated by AMU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon, will feature keynote lectures, technical sessions, and discussions, marking a key event in QGP research.
