Bhubaneswar: Despite slowdown, it’s raining jobs at KIIT with 150 firms offering 3650 jobs for a batch size of 3500 students, of which 1100 students got multiple offers. It is important to mention that the highest salary package is Rs.30 lakh. This data pertains to School of Technology in 2020 and excludes 450+ academic placements.

Amazon, Accenture, Capgemini, Wipro and Cognizant are among those setting the pace in the ongoing campus placement for the B.Tech class of 2020 at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar. Bucking the slowdown in the employment market, students got a record number of job offers. KIIT remained largely insulated from the gloomy job market conditions as 3650 job offers from 150 plus companies were generated for a batch size of 3500 eligible students in B.Tech, beating past records. Over 90% students have already been placed in absolute sense and about 1100 students have received multiple job offers.

KIIT was founded in 1992 as a modest vocational training centre by eminent educationist and social activist Prof. Achyuta Samanta. However, it was opened as a centre of higher learning in 1997, which is considered as the base year. The first batch of degree engineering students passed out in 2001. Since its inception, the institute has been posting remarkably successful campus placement drives for its students.

Remarkably, 27% students bagged ‘Day Zero’ dream offers from big multinational companies with an average CTC of Rs. 10.00 lakh. ‘Day-One’ campus recruitment drive generated 1714 job offers from four companies: Accenture, Capgemini, Wipro and Cognizant. According to corporate experts, KIIT had an excellent ‘Day One’ & ‘Day Zero’ conversions in the light of bleak job market scenario.

Across the board, the salary package witnessed a spurt, touching Rs. 30 lakh (offered by Amazon) in Schools of Engineering at the upper end. Even as Schools of Engineering is all set to achieve cent percent placements for all deserving and eligible students like previous years, placement scenario in other Schools of KIIT – School of Management, School of Biotechnology, School of Law, School of Computer Application and School of Rural Management – is equally upbeat. All these Schools have also been achieving cent percent placement in the past.
