D&FCO Jammu organises Cricket tournament to promote Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyaan

JAMMU : Drugs & Food Control Organisation, Jammu, in collaboration with Chemist Association, R.S Pura today sponsored the second day of Legends Cricket tournament at Satriyan, Block Suchetgarh Border Village of R.S Pura.

Mohd Iqbal Palla, Deputy Drugs Controller, Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The tournament is being organized by Locals and Youth of Satriyan.

The second day match was played between Team Game Changer, Jammu and Akhnoor Warriors. Team Game Changer won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, Team Game Changer scored 143 runs by losing 9 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Chasing the target, Akhnoor Warriors could make only 88 runs in 20 overs.

Jivesh Kumar was declared as Man of the Match for taking three crucial wickets.

Deputy Drugs Controller, Jammu informed that this programme was organized in continuation to the Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyaan which aims to reach out the masses and spread awareness against the substance abuse and drug abuse. He stressed on the participants to inculcate the values of true sportsmanship and keep themselves away from drugs, unhealthy things, and anti-social activities.

He emphasized that sports activities relieve boredom, and promote socialization to develop social skills and right activities. He told them that participating in the game is more important than winning or losing the game and administered a pledge to youth about working against drug abuse. He inspired them to stop people from falling prey to drug abuse and simultaneously save themselves from this menace. He asked them to channelize their energy in making greater strides in their studies and sports. He told them to make it their objective to weed out the epidemic of Drug Abuse from our UT.

Players from different teams, a large number of students, Prominent Citizens, Officers of the Department, Representatives of Chemist Association R.S Pura, were present to watch the match of this tournament.
