DG CCRUM visits Faculty of Unani Medicine, AMU
Aligarh : Chennai based scientist Dr N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General (DG), Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India, New Delhi visited Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
On his maiden visit to AMU, the Director General inspected the Faculty of Unani Medicine, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College and the Chemical Research Unit (Unani), Department of Chemistry, AMU. He had a tour of select departments including the Department of Ilmul Advia, Department of Saidla and the Leech Bank of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College Hospital.
Appreciating the infrastructure and work of Tibbiya College, Dr. Ahmed encouraged the faculty members and young aspirants of Unani Medicine in the area of research and development. He said that CCRUM in its collaborative scheme is keenly interested to sign MoU in different areas in the field of research.
“The Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College is a prominent centre of Unani medicine and the legendary scholars of this institution have had the honour and privilege to work with CCRUM in the past”, he said.
Acknowledging the services of legendary Hakeem Prof Tayyab, Prof Zillurrahman, Prof Yusuf Ameen, Prof. SH Afaq, Prof Hakeem Ishtiyaq, Hakeem Syed Kamaluddin Hamdani, Dr M Asif and many more legendary scholars in the field of chemical and clinical research, he said the quality publications of the faculty members are enough for its substantial introduction.
The Director General of CCRUM invited the faculty members to apply for projects both under EMR and collaborative schemes.
During his visit to the Leech Bank of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College Hospital, Dr Ahmed enquired about the basics of its establishment and encouraged the scientists to establish more leech banks in similar manner.
Prof Badrudduja Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Prof Shagufta Aleem, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine and Prof Ubaidulla Khan welcomed the esteemed Director General in the Faculty of Unani Medicine along with distinguished faculty members.
AMU Proctor Prof M. Wasim Ali and Manager Dawakhana Tibbiya College Mr Mohd. Shariq Azam were also present on the occasion.
