Dialysis unit inaugurated at District Hospital Ramban
RAMBAN : Coming as a major relief for the local patients, the first Dialysis Unit was today inaugurated here in District Hospital Ramban under the Prime Minister National Dialysis Programme.
The unit was inaugurated by the first listed kidney patient, Mariama Begum, 56 of Gandhari village in presence of Chief Medical Officer, Dr, Mohammad Fareed Bhat and Medical Superintendent DH, Dr.Hamid Zargar.
Immediately after the inauguration, Mariama underwent dialysis and became the first patient to avail this vital healthcare facility at the District Hospital Ramban.
While speaking on the occasion, the CMO said that the facility has been developed on the directions of Additional Chief Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo to provide relief to the local patients, who had to go out of the district for the crucial procedure.
“The Dialysis Unit in District Hospital Ramban was a long felt need and it will provide much sought relief to the patients who had to rush to Jammu or Srinagar for such treatment which consumed a lot of money and time” he added.
He further said that, this Dialysis Unit has come up at a cost of Rs 25.45 lakh and it has 5 Dialysis machines provided by the JKMSCL (J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd.) out of which 1 machine has been kept reserved for Hepatitis and HIV patients.
