DIC Shopian conducts Mushaira/ Debate/ Drama/ Seminar, Special Cultural programme at Keller
Shopian: The District Information Centre (DIC) Shopian in collaboration with Parwana Public High School and Media Centre Shopian today organized a daylong Mehfil-e-Mushaira/Debate/Drama/seminar and a special cultural programme at Thairin Keller here.
Poets and writers from various areas of Shopian district besides a large number of school children participated in the programme and presented their talents to grace the occasion.
The District Information Officer (DIO) Shopian, Showkat Ahmad Khan was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The DIO while addressing the gathering said that poets and writers are praiseworthy for their God gifted talent and asked them to come forward and take part in such events more and more to promote the heritage of Kashmir.
He further said that the need of the hour is to encourage the poets and writers so that they are able to participate in these programmes.
The speakers deliberated on the ill-effects of drug abuse and highlighted the need of taking preventive measures to eradicate the menace of drug addiction and other social evils in the society.
The organizers said that the main aim of the programme was to spread awareness amongst the student community to take necessary steps for curbing the drug menace. They also expressed their thoughts on the injurious effects of drugs on the young generation.
They explained to the students the importance of cleanliness, social distancing, and care of elderly family members for combating Covid-19.
Faqir Wali Mohamamd Yari and his party presented a special cultural programme on the occasion besides School Children also presented various cultural programmes.
The Mahfl-i-Mushaira programme was presided over by Bashir Ahmad Parwana and welcome address presented by Tariq Ahmad Kumar, Principal, of the said school and assisted by Muzamil Yaqoob and others.
Gh Ahmad Showkeen presented the vote of thanks.
Later, the students who were adjudged as best speakers were awarded with mementos, besides drawing colours, stencils, pencils were distributed among participants.
