DIPR hosts cultural program on National Voters’ Day at Udhampur
UDHAMPUR : As part of the celebration of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav (India@75), Department of Information & Public Relations, Cultural Wing, Jammu, in collaboration with District Information Centre, Udhampur, today organized a cultural programme on National Voters Day here in the premises of Delhi Public School Udhampur.
District Information Officer, Udhampur Rajinder Kumar Digra was the chief guest while Chairperson of the School Dr J C Gupta was the guest of honour.
The programme was attended by MD Vivek Gupta, Academic Director, Sucheta Gupta, Principal of the School, Dr Kunal Anand besides officials of the Information department.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that the main objective of celebrating this day is to strengthen the democratic system by creating awareness among the young and future voters about the importance of their vote. He added that India is the largest democracy in the world as every citizen has right to vote.
The DIO urged the participants to generate awareness among the eligible voters in their surroundings about the importance of their vote and ask them not to forget to use the right to vote.
Earlier, Chairperson of the host school, Dr J C Gupta presented the welcome address and briefed about the importance of National Voters day.
Artists of the Cultural Wing Jammu and District Information Centre, Udhampur, including Mohinder Panchairvi, Balbir Singh, Suresh Kumar, Amit Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Banti Shah, Rajid Bharderwahi, Mukesh Kumar presented a scintillating musical program featuring patriotic and Folk songs which was highly appreciated by the audience with repeated rounds of applause.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Suresh Kumar.
