Dir Agriculture urges farmers to sell their produce in demand oriented markets

 

Jammu: Director Agriculture Production &Farmers Welfare Jammu, K. K. Sharma, today visited border village Pinjore (Marh) for field assessment of agricultural activities and interaction with the vegetable growers of the area.

The Director Agriculture, while interacting with the vegetable growers, encouraged them to sell their vegetable produce in demand oriented distant markets of other districts. He advised them to utilize the services of departmental Refrigerated vans to transport the vegetable produce to Kashmir, Rajouri, Poonch and other markets to fetch good returns.

K. K. Sharma highlighted the importance of organically produced vegetables and motivated the farmers to adopt organic practices along with latest technological intervention in agriculture to realize the goal of doubling the farm income. He also stressed on promoting Hi-tech farming like growing vegetables under polyhouse to attract the young entrepreneurs towards income generating farming ventures.

Director Agriculture also inspected the developmental activities being implemented in the field by the department during the visit.

The farmers present on the occasion discussed various farming related issues for which the Director assured of all possible help.

The Chief Agriculture officer, Jammu A. S. Reen, SDAO Marh, Ashwani Kumar Jojra, AEO Marh, Vikram katayal, AEO Misriwala, Nirmal Parkesh and others also accompanied the Director during the visit.
