Director Agriculture inaugurates distribution of vegetable seedlings raised under NVPGH
JAMMU : Director Agriculture Production & Farmers’ Welfare, Jammu, K K. Sharma today inaugurated distribution of vegetable seedlings raised on scientific lines under Naturally Ventilated Poly Green House (NVPGH) here at Agriculture Farm Chak Jagger.
The seedlings of different vegetable crops and varieties are being raised here and distributed among the vegetable growers of Jammu on a no profit and no loss basis.
The Director handed over the vegetable seedlings to farmers including Paviter Singh of Rajpura, Randhir Singh of Batera and Kewal Kumar of Tikri, Udhampur .
The Director stressed on full utilization of available land at the farm in a rotational manner for production of healthy vegetable seedlings. Disease free healthy seedlings help to make the vegetable growing a profitable business, he added.
It was appraised on the occasion that about 3.8 lakh seedlings of Cabbage, Cauliflower, Knol Khol, lettuce and broccoli have been raised under NVPGH structures at Chak Jagger and krishi Bhawan, Jammu as first lot of Rabi 2021 season. Further it was given out that 60000 vegetable seedlings have been distributed among the farmers till date.
Later, the Director also inspected the paddy, Turmeric, Lemon grass, Seteria grass and Napier grass grown at the farm.
Joint Director (Farms), Rajinder Sharma, Agronomist (Vegetables), J. C. Raina and Assistant Agrostologist, Rajesh Gupta were also present on the occasion.
