Director Agriculture inspects farmers’ welfare field activities in Kathua
Kathua: Director Agriculture, Jammu, Inderjeet along with team of officer conducted an intensive tour of Kathua district to inspect the progress of various Farmer Welfare Schemes and field activities being under taken by Department of Agriculture.
The team of officer including Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua, Vijay Upadhaya, DAO (Extension), Sanjeev Rai Gupta, ADO (Vegetable), Satish Sharma, SDAO, Dayalchak, Manohar Lal, SMS (SDL), Krishankant Sharma and other senior officers accompanied the Director during the visit.
Director Agriculture inspected SM farm, Burmal, Kathua where he inspected working and activities being undertaken at the farm.
At village Ganguchak, Director Agriculture visited field of progressive farmer, Kewal Krishan who is engaged in diversified farm activities like commercial cultivation of flowers and vegetables, vermicomposting etc. An advanced Drip Irrigation System has been installed in his field with departmental assistances. He has also installed solar fencing in his farm as protection against wild animals.
Director Agriculture stressed upon the officers to motivate the farmers to go for the production of exotic and high value vegetables under protected and controlled conditions to get round the year production for high returns by Product Branding, Value Addition and Better Market Linkages.
Director agriculture also visited Turmeric processing unit of progressive farmer, Tunda Singh at village Sultanpur, who is engaged in contract farming on an area of 10 acres. He produces and markets haldi direct to the consumers under his own brand.
He directed the officers to activate the field functionaries to reach out to the farmers’ field for providing all possible support to the farming community in these difficult times and adhere to COVID 19 advisory while discharge of duties.
