Director Agriculture Jammu Inspects Saffron Farm Kishtwar

Kishtwar: Director Agriculture, Jammu, Inder Jeet today conducted a visit of Saffron Farm, Kishtwar to inspect the working of the farm.
He was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer Kisthwar, T. K. Attri, SDAO Marwah, Amjad Hussain Malik, Saffron Development officer, S. K. Shan besides other officers of the Kishtwar district.
The Director asked the concerned officials to conduct comprehensive survey and submit DPR immediately for the revival of 217 Kanals farm as there is great potential for successful cultivation of Saffron crop in the district. Saffron is a high-value commercial/export crop that can play a significant role in employment generation to rural people of Kishtwar, he said. He also inspected the soil testing laboratory, mushroom unit and under construction machinery shed in the farm and passed on necessary instructions for early completion of repair works.
The Director also reviewed the progress of various centrally sponsored farmer welfare schemes (CSS) and physical and financial progress under CAPEX Budget 2019-20. He directed the field staff to strive hard for 100% completion of all the targets fixed under Kissan Credit Card Scheme (KCCS) and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna (PM-KISAN). The Director further impressed upon the officers to upload beneficiary related data under different schemes on relevant DBT portals. He directed the officers to maintain work culture and ensure the punctuality with increased mobility in the field.
The Director also stressed on ensuring involvement of PRI members in selection of beneficiaries for better implementation of schemes and programmes at gross root level. He impressed on the officers to motivate the farmers to follow integrated farming system by adopting mushroom cultivation, Bee Keeping, Protected Vegetable growing with special focus on local specialties for doubling the farm income.
