Director Agriculture Kashmir reviews functioning of Departmental Farms
SRINAGAR : The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the functioning of Departmental Farms in Kashmir Division and to take stock of the preparations for Rabi 2020-21, at Agriculture Complex Lalmandi, here.
At the outset, the Director was apprised of different Rabi plans which were later on discussed threadbare.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director asked the concerned officers to come up with some comprehensive plans to strengthen the departmental assets. These Departmental Farms would play an important role in achieving the goal of self-reliance in meeting the seed requirements of Kashmir to a large extent, he added.
Chowdhary directed the Farm Managers and concerned officers that harvesting operations should be meticulously planned and executed. He said Joint Director Agriculture Inputs and Joint Director Agriculture Farms will monitor the harvesting proceedings and the entire activity of harvesting of different crops in these Farms should be done purely on scientific lines.
He reiterated the importance of post harvest management and scientific storage of the produce.
The Director exhorted the officers that there will be no compromise on already set benchmarks in terms of production of different crops from these Departmental Farms. He asked the participants to ensure the production and supply of quality seed to the farmers.
Earlier, a detailed presentation regarding the present scenario of these Departmental Farms was given to the Director.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Inputs Farooq Ahmad Shah, Joint Director Agriculture Farms Dr. Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah, Deputy Director Planning Mohammad Younis Chowdhary, all the Farm Managers of concerned Farms and other senior officers of the Department.
