Director Agriculture Kashmir visits Srinagar areas; Takes stock of Paddy harvesting
SRINAGAR: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited New Theed and other areas of district Srinagar.
During the visit, the Director met some progressive vegetable growers. He also took stock of Paddy harvesting amid recent rains in the area and also participated in some of the harvesting operations.
While interacting with the farmers, the Director reiterated the Department’s commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of the farming community.
Interacting with a progressive farmer who has cultivated only Tomato crop in his 5 kanal land, the Director said that the Department is there to provide all the technical guidance and whatever hand holding is needed.
The Agri. Department in collaboration with JKHPMC is offering a multi layer marketing channel to the farmers so that they could sell their produce in and outside of UT of Jammu and Kashmir, in a more effective and profitable manner, he said.
He added that the Department under Farm Mechanization Program is planning to provide Paddy Thrashers to all the districts from next year so that the cost of the thrashing could be minimized.
He asked the Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar and his team to work in close coordination with the farmers so that the agriculture sector could touch new heights and the socio economic transformation of the farming community could be achieved.
Later, the Director chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the status of PM-Kisan Scheme in some of the identified areas of district Srinagar and district Ganderbal. He directed the concerned officers to ensure that every deserving individual gets benefited from the PM Kisan scheme.
The Director was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer, Srinagar Mohammad Younis Chowdhary and other senior officers of the Department.
