Director Agriculture visits FSMF, Methwani Shopian

Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited Fodder Seed Multiplication Farm (FSMF) Methwani Shopian to have first hand information about the different technological interventions adopted to increase the production and productivity of the farm.

During the visit a meeting of the concerned staff and the technical experts was also conducted by the director wherein he appreciated the staff for working with such a commitment in this far flung area.

He said that the fodder production has a great potential in the valley and added that all the necessary steps should be put in place to make the optimum utilization of Methwani farm and other departmental farms to achieve self-sufficiency in seed production.

The Director asked the technical experts of the farm to introduce innovative techniques of crop production and fodder varieties of economic significance. He highlighted the importance of modern day fodder crops and awareness in the local farming communities.

Earlier the Farm Manager gave a brief presentation of different sections of farm and the Agricultural activities being carried out under the strict supervision of technical experts in the farm.

The Director during the visit was accompanied by Assistant Agrostologist Mujtaba Yahya and other senior officers of the department.
