Director AH Jammu reviews performance of department in districts

Asks for involving PRIs in developmental initiatives

 

JAMMU : Director, Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Sagar D. Doifode today chaired a meeting to review the performance of the department districts here at Conference hall of Directorate of Animal Husbandry TalabTillo.

The meeting among others was attended by CEO Livestock Development Board Jammu, Dr. Matloob Ahmad Tak; Joint Director Poultry, Dr. Anil Kumar Gupta; Dy. Director(AH) Dr. JavedKatoch; Dy. Director Poultry, Dr. Sunil Bazaz; Dy. Director Planning & Statistics, Monika Upadhyay; Accounts Officer, Vishnu Kant Sharma and officers from the Technical section and Publicity Wing of the Directorate. Joint Director ARV RS Pura and all the Chief Animal Husbandry Officers participated via online mode

At the outset, the chair congratulated the officers of the department put in by the officers for developing the dairy sector and promoting White Revolution in the Jammu province.

The Director had a detailed review of different flagship schemes including Integrated Dairy Development Scheme, Integrated Poultry Development Program, ,Feed and Fodder Development Scheme, Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme, National Animal Disease Control Programme, Kisan Credit Card scheme and Establishment of Milk Villages in convergence with Tribal Affairs Department J&K

It was informed that the previous allocation under the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme has been fully utilized and the govt. is likely to allocate further funds leading to the establishment of around six hundred more Dairy units in the Jammu division. While reviewing the performance under the scheme the Chair directed the meeting for improving the pace of induction of quality milch animals so as to meet the allotted targets in true letter and spirit

While reviewing the progress made under Feed and Fodder Development Scheme, the Chair directed that every district shall submit at least two proposals for the establishment of Silage Bailing and Packaging Units under the said scheme which shall give a boost to the year round availability of quality fodder in the region

While discussing the Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme, the Chair emphasized upon the importance of Artificial Inseminations in ensuring breed improvement of local cattle and buffaloes. Further it being one of the most efficient tools accessible to farmers to improve productivity and profitability of dairy enterprises; he directed to enhance the coverage of the programme significantly. In view of the existing gap between the physical Artificial Inseminations done and data uploaded over INAPH portal, the chair directed the district officers to clear all the pendency on this account and upload the remaining data at an earliest

The issues like the Establishment of Milk Villages in the districts of Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch and Jammu in convergence with Tribal Affairs Department, status of Kisan Credit Cards in Animal Husbandry and Poultry sectors, progress of vaccinations done under National Animal Disease Control Program, Establishment of larger Broiler Poultry units under Integrated Poultry Development Programme Etc were also discussed in detail during the meeting and necessary directions passed to the concerned officers for time bound achievement of progress under each component

The Director enjoined upon all the officers to work with a missionary zeal and deliver the benefits of the schemes to the farmers at their doorsteps. He further instructed for involving the PRIs in various developmental initiatives at Village, Block and District levels by organizing mass awareness campaigns in coordination with the district administrations.
