Director Horticulture launches Monsoon plantation drive in Rajouri
RAJOURI : Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak, conducted an extensive tour of the Rajouri district where he kicks started the Monsoon plantation drive in the Horticulture Zones of Sunderbani and Nowshera as a part of the celebration of Horticulture Week.
He stressed upon the people to come forward for planting high-density mango plants for which a good incentive is being provided and as a part of this scheme, Horticulture department is providing commercial mango varieties like Kessar & Alfanso in the village Pelli of Zone Sunderbani & Rajal of Zone Nowshera.
While interacting with the participants, the Director emphasized that last year the department enhanced the incentive for strawberry cultivation to Rs. 0.13 lakh per Kanal and advised them to go for diversified farming to get the maximum returns per unit area.
The Director also elaborated the gathering about the importance of facilitation centres in the Rajouri District regarding the availability of high-quality planting material and value-added products. He also emphasized that these centres will serve as a common platform for them to demonstrate and sell their products also.
He also visited Government Fruit Plant Nursery Siot and took stock of the ongoing developmental activities and gave on spot instructions to the field staff to work hard with zeal and dedication and achieve the allotted targets in time.
Chief Horticulture Officer, M. L. Tak also interacted with the participants and assured them that all their genuine demands as per departmental norms shall be resolved. DHO, DLSMS and MCC Rajouri and other officers accompanied the Director during the tour.
