Director Horticulture review performance of department in Reasi, Samba Districts

 

JAMMU: Director Horticulture, Jammu, Ram Savak today reviewed the performance of the department in Reasi and Samba districts respectively, wherein all officers and officials attended the meeting.

The Director took a comprehensive review of Horticulture activities as well as physical and financial achievements under Capex plan and centrally Sponsored Schemes in respect of the twin Districts.

The Chief Horticulture Officer, Reasi, Brij Vallabh Gupta presented an overview of the District and apprised about the achievements made by the department under different ongoing Horticulture developmental schemes viz: CAPEX, MIDH, ATMA, PMDP, PMKSY, and progress regarding production of quality planting material in the Departmental Nurseries.

While taking a review of the ongoing schemes, developmental works and nurseries, the Director Horticulture Jammu exhorted upon field staff to achieve at least 70% of plantation targets by or before 15th of December 2021 to avoid the financial restrictions. He took a serious view of sluggish progress by some employees in achieving the set targets.

The Director also reviewed the progress of Modified Ultra High Density Plantation and asked the field staff to cover as much area as they can to benefit the maximum number of farmers . He also stressed upon the formation of Farmer Producers Organization (FPOs) in the district.

Further, while taking a review of the progress in respect of implementation of the Schemes in district Samba, the Joint Director Horticulture Jammu, C.L Sharma appraised the chair about the status of various works and detail of physical and financial progress made under different Departmental Schemes.

The Director stressed upon all the officers / officials to expedite the works undertaken for the development of the departmental nurseries and achieve the targets allotted under different schemes by December end 2021 so as to incur full expenditure well in time. The chair also impressed upon all the officers and officials to put in their best efforts to disseminate the awareness about the developmental schemes including Modified Ultra High Density Plantation Scheme, Micro-irrigation technologies, Protected Cultivation techniques, Organic farming, Mechanization etc., and maintain a close liaison with the growers/orchardists so that they can enhance their fruit production by adopting latest technologies in their farms thereby increasing their income.
