Directorate of Animal Husbandry Kashmir celebrates ‘World Rabies Day – 2021’

 

SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Animal Husbandry Kashmir celebrated World Rabies Day-2021, on the theme ‘Rabies: Facts, Not Fear’.

The event started with formal launching of Anti Rabies Vaccination Drive at Central Veterinary Hospital Srinagar by Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Purnima Mittal.

On the occasion, ‘Special Anti-Rabies Vaccination Camps’ were organized in all districts of Kashmir Valley, for ‘Free of Cost’ vaccinations of Pet/ Companion Animals, especially, Dogs and Cats. A Webinar was also organized, in which all the Officers of the Department participated.

The event was aimed to highlight critical aspects in our fight against Rabies, and how we can use that to achieve global dog-mediated Rabies Elimination.

During the event Dr. Gowhar N Gora (TO to Joint Director, IAH&BP Zakura) and Dr. Khalid Bashir (GMC Sgr) highlighted the importance of prevention and control against Rabies among animal and humans.

On the occasion, the Director apprised the participants about the critical aspects in our fight against this disease and appreciated the efforts of all Officers in dealing with it and advised them to work in collaboration with all stakeholders for Rabies Elimination by 2030.
