Disaster preparedness training held to commemorate International Day for PwD

 

SRINAGAR : On the eve of International Day for Persons with Disabilities, a one day disaster preparedness training programme was organized for the patients and staff of Composite Regional Centre, Bemina Srinagar.

The programme was attended by Director Disaster Management and Nodal Officer SEOC, Aamir Ali, Director Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Bemina, Dr. Mir Zaffar Iqbal and Deputy Commandant NDRF, MN Khama.

Being conducted by the department of Disaster Management Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the training was attended by the staff of CRC, students undergoing various para-medical courses at CRC, parents of patients having disabilities who are undergoing treatment and physiotherapy at CRC Bemina.

During the training, the participants were given practical sessions on Search and Rescue, Fire Fighting and First Aid by the expert instructors of SDRF led by Abdul Gaffar and Aijaz Ahmed.

Pertinently, CRC Bemina has been established for Persons with Disabilities of J&K by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The objective of CRC is to build an inclusive society in which equal opportunities are provided for growth and development of Persons with Disabilities, so that they can lead productive, safe and dignified lives.
