Disney.BYJU’S Early Learn App Introduces Science for Children in Classes 1–3 in India

New Delhi: BYJU’S (Think and Learn Pvt. Ltd), the creator of one of India’s most popular learning apps, has recently introduced ‘Science’ as a learning program for children in classes 1-3 on its Disney.BYJU’S Early Learn app in India. With an all-new user-friendly interface, the app aims to provide a more personalised and experiential experience. The enhanced digitally-enabled worksheets support child’s handwriting recognition too, making it a unique proposition in the learning space.

Aimed at introducing and igniting interest in Science among children, the app weaves everyday science concepts into familiar stories featuring Disney’s timeless stories and characters from Disney Princess, Frozen, Cars, The Lion King, Toy Story, and more. Science concepts are explained and presented in an engaging manner through various formats like videos, interactive activities, sing-along rhymes, engaging stories, quizzes, and more to encourage young minds to explore them further. An example of this: Mr. Incredible from the hit Disney Pixar film “The Incredibles” is known for his strength, so children can learn about and understand the importance of muscles in the human body through interactive videos featuring him. The new version also introduces special upgrades that help parents become an active part of their children’s journey on the app.

Key features of the updated Disney.BYJU’S Early Learn App include:

Handwriting recognition: The digitally-enabled worksheet developed in-house, takes the Osmo worksheets experience to a whole new level by allowing kids to directly write their answers on the actual worksheets (digitally enabled). With the help of Osmo’s downward-facing camera, the app then evaluates what they have written and gives them feedback. This is especially critical for kids in this age group as it helps them develop and improve their fine motor skills while learning and exploring various science topics.

Recommendation Engine: Through this feature, the engine suggests tasks with the highest chance of engagement for each child using the app to ensure that they remain engaged with the app content. The engine’s mechanism to offer recommendations has also highly evolved – it takes into account several signals including subject affinity, chapter recency, knowledge profile, and proficiency to surface the most relevant pieces of content for each child using the app.

Learning Map: The learning map gives parents a visual representation of their child’s progress and capabilities. With “progress cards” to indicate tasks completed by their child and a “skills” section to display their strengths in different skills, this feature provides parents with much-needed insight into their child’s learning journey.

Parent-child activities: It helps parents play an active part in their child’s journey on the app. This feature offers fun everyday activities that parents can engage in along with their child to enhance their app experience. For example – the app suggests activities to parents through which they can help their child identify the different types of plants, vegetables etc. during their mealtime.
