Distinguished academic, Prof Sachidananda Mohanty, appointed by the HRD/NCERT as the Chairperson of a Focus Group to implement the New Education Policy

Bhubaneswar: Prof Sachidananda Mohanty has been appointed as the Chairperson of an apex Focus Group at the national level to study linkages between School Education and Higher Education under the New Education Policy. He heads a seven member panel of eminent academics and academic administrators at the national level. Appointed by the Ministry of Education and the NCERT as the Chair of the National Focus Group, his mandate is to study the linkages between School Education and Higher Education and come up with a Position Paper that could help facilitate the implementation of the NEP. The tenure of this Focus Group is one year. Prof Mohanty is a multifaceted scholar of English Literature and Culture Studies; he has had the distinction of representing Odisha and India abroad. He is a former Professor of English at the Hyderabad Central University and a former Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Odisha. Prof. Mohanty as an internationally acclaimed academic who has published widely, 29 books in English and Odia. His works in English have appeared in the Oxford University Press, Sage Publication, Routledge, Orient Longman, Central Sahitya Academy and other notable publishing houses. He is the recipient of various national and international awards such as those from the British Council, the Katha, the Salzburg and the Fulbright fellowships. Earlier, he was nominated as a member of the Education Commission for UNESCO and member of the Governing Board of Auroville Foundation. by the Government of India.
