District admin distributes food kits among needy, migrant labours, destitute
Bandipora: District administration, Bandipora distributed food packets containing rice, oil, pulses, spices and other essentials among migrant labours, destitute and poor people of the district, today.
Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, said that in view of the lockdown there are numerous people who need help. He said that officers and the volunteers prepared food kits and about 600 kits were prepared till the Saturday evening which were later distributed during night among the needy while taking precautions. He said the food packets were dropped at the doorsteps of every household in need whilea maintaining social distance.
The food packets were distributed by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir and Tehsildar, Bandipora, Rouf Iqbal during Saturday night among migrant labours, destitute and needy. He said that all requisite arrangements have been put in place across the district and people need not to panic.
On Sunday the administration continued the distribution of free food packets in Sumbal, Ajas and Bandipora areas.
Mirza said the administration has already started online shopping for people wherein they can call on given numbers to get eatables at their doorstep.
With regard to sanitation, the Deputy Commissioner said that intensive sanitation cum fumigation drives are being carried out throughout the district by Municipalities to contain the spread of Coronavirus infection.
